Moreno Valley Public Library Expands Services by Offering Free Internet Hotspots to Residents

For immediate release: June 5, 2018

The City of Moreno Valley has unveiled a new program to expand residents’ access to the Internet via portable hotspot devices now available for checkout throughout the Moreno Valley Public Library system.

Students who do not have Internet accessibility at home have a new – and free – resource to help them complete homework, and a lack of an Internet connection is no longer a barrier to prevent the unemployed from joining the rank of the employed.

A limited number of hotspots are available at each library branch, and can be checked out by library patrons for up to a month. Hotspots can connect up to 10 devices to the Internet simultaneously.

“The Moreno Valley Public Library positively impacts the educational development and job readiness of our residents daily,” said Moreno Valley Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez. “Making Internet hotspots available through the library will make it easier for our children to learn, our residents to find gainful employment, and improve the quality of life for all of us.”

In addition to providing the hotspots for checkout, both library branches will continue to provide free computer and Internet access with a reservation.

Locations and operating hours of Moreno Valley Public Libraries are available here.
