Businesses May be Eligible to Receive Thousands through the City’s Hire a MoVal Grad Pilot Program
For immediate release: March 12, 2018
It is now even easier than ever for local businesses to receive incentives for hiring Moreno Valley residents who have recently graduated from college or vocational training.
Under the City of Moreno Valley’s Hire a MoVal Grad pilot program, Moreno Valley businesses can apply to receive an incentive for hiring residents who have recently graduated or completed a specialized training program from any accredited college, university, vocational technical school, or other specialized training program as defined by the Hire a MoVal Grad program.
Local businesses that hire Moreno Valley graduates may be eligible for a $1,000 stipend for each new hire up to a maximum of five new hires. New hires must be employed with the company for a minimum of six months and work at least 20 hours per week before a business can apply for the Hire a MoVal Grad incentive.
In order to be eligible, Moreno Valley businesses must be licensed by the City of Moreno Valley and hire a Moreno Valley resident who has recently graduated or completed a specialized training program from any accredited college, university, vocational technical school, or other specialized training program within the past two years.
Incentives are provided on a first come basis. Program costs are currently capped at $50,000 a year through June 30, 2019.
The Hire a MoVal Grad program is part of the City’s award winning Hire MoVal program designed to put Moreno Valley residents to work by providing lucrative incentives to businesses in exchange for hiring Moreno Valley residents.
The Hire MoVal program also provides businesses complimentary access to workforce recruitment services, job announcements and job fairs to make it even easier to hire qualified employees in our community. Eligible businesses that meet designated thresholds for hiring Moreno Valley residents can benefit from significant discounts to their electricity bill or receive waivers of business license fees.
