News Release

Council Member David Marquez Appointed to Statewide Public Safety Policy Committee

For immediate release: October 30, 2017

Council Member Marquez

Council Member David Marquez was appointed to the League of California Cities’ Public Safety Policy Committee.

“It is my honor and privilege to serve in this capacity, helping to shape the policies that will help California cities advocate for safe communities” said Council Member Marquez. “As a former police officer, I have a unique perspective on policies that impact service to our communities.”

The Public Safety Policy Committee reviews both federal and state legislative issues and makes recommendations to the League’s board of directors. Recommendations cover topics related to law enforcement, fire, and life safety policies including emergency communications, ambulance and disaster preparedness. The Committee draws upon existing League policy, Resolutions passed at annual meetings and the knowledge and expertise of individual committee members in order to recommend policies in these and related areas.

The League of California Cities is an association of California city officials who work together to enhance their knowledge and skills as elected leaders, exchange information, and combine resources so that they may influence policy decisions that affect cities across the Golden State.
