Mayor Pro Tem Represents Moreno Valley in Fight against Bill That Threatens Constitutional Rights, Job Creation

For immediate release: September 12, 2017

Baca

Mayor Pro Tem Victoria Baca recently made several trips to Sacramento representing the City of Moreno Valley before the California State Legislature to oppose AB 890, a bill which threatens the constitutional rights of voters and the creation of tens of thousands of jobs across the region.

"The City of Moreno Valley has worked very hard to create an environment where businesses can create local jobs," said Mayor Pro Tem Baca. "We will not sit idly by while AB 890 threatens our community’s economic future."

In addition to meeting with members of the state Legislature over the last several weeks, Mayor Pro Tem Baca testified in front of the state Assembly’s Local Government Committee in opposition of AB 890.

The bill is also opposed by the California Building Industry Association, the California Chamber of Commerce, and the Cities of Indian Wells, Palm Desert, La Mirada, and Thousand Oaks.

AB 890 is expected to be heard on the Assembly floor by the end of the week.
