Ulises Cabrera will represent District 4

Youth Program Director Ulises Cabrera will take the oath of office as the newest member of Moreno Valley's City Council at a special meeting on Friday, June 16 at 4 p.m.

The ceremony will be held in the Moreno Valley Council Chamber at City Hall, 14177 Frederick Street. The public is invited.

Cabrera was elected to the City Council on June 6 in a special election to represent District 4, filling the vacancy created when Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez took office as the City's first directly elected mayor. Cabrera's term will expire November 2018.

Cabrera attended Moreno Valley’s Valley View High School and holds an Associate Degree in Art from Lone Star College near Houston, Texas. He is currently furthering his higher education at Moreno Valley College.

Last year Cabrera founded SpiritLift, a Moreno Valley-based charitable organization which provides mentors for at-risk youth in the City to encourage them to find their passion in life through education.

“I’m extremely motivated and ready to start working with the youth of our City and continue to serve as a role model,” Cabrera said. “If I have been able to accomplish what I have at the age of 22 with an associate degree, they can do anything as well. I am committed to making our City a better place for future generations.”
