City of Moreno Valley Activates Emergency, Departmental Operation Centers in Anticipation of Heavy Rain

The City of Moreno Valley has activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Departmental Operations Center (DOC) to manage the City's response to another round of heavy rain expected to hit Riverside County today.
Forecasters are predicting the latest storm could bring powerful winds and up to 2 inches of rain to the region, with the heaviest rain falling Friday evening. The rain is anticipated to taper off Saturday.
The DOC will coordinate responses by Public Works crews, Fire and Police Departments will ensure the safety of the community, and Animal Services will have on call staff to assist with animal response needs. Teams will also actively monitor “hot spots” affected by the heavy rains and dispatch crews to clear roads and respond to other storm-related issues. The EOC will support all departmental needs of the city and its residents.
The Fire Department is working closely with the County of Riverside's Emergency Management Department to monitor regional traffic conditions which affect Moreno Valley.
The City is offering free sandbags and loose sand to residents at all Moreno Valley fire stations between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. For more information and specific locations, visit www.moval.org.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Alert MoVal, the City’s Emergency Alert and Warning Notification System, to quickly notify residents of storm information and warn of potential hazards.
Registrants will have an option when signing up whether they want to receive notifications through their landline, cell phone, text message and/or email.
