Streetlight Demonstration Sites Now Open in Hemet
Public encouraged to provide input on future street lighting design
The City of Hemet and Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) have collaborated to create the region’s largest streetlight demonstration sites to allow for members of the public to view and comment on a variety of new streetlight technologies.
Demonstration sites showcasing these energy efficient technologies are now fully installed and open to the public in five locations throughout the city of Hemet.
Guided tours of the demonstration sites will take place over the next several weeks, with the next tour scheduled for Monday, November 14th at 6 p.m.

Members of the community can also view the LED streetlight technology already in place in Moreno Valley by visiting the following locations:
- Nason Street between Iris and Fir Avenues
- Safety lights at signalized intersections have been converted to LED (Frederick Street and Calle San Juan de Los Logos)
The two-hour bus tours will showcase lighting characteristics of LEDs and how they can offer lower energy costs, enhanced public safety, and minimized light pollution.
The City of Moreno Valley is continually exploring new technologies to better serve the community and reduce costs.
Members of the Moreno Valley community are encouraged to take a tour or visit the demonstration sites on their own and 
provide input on visual and aesthetic preferences of the lights, how safe they make the neighborhood feel, and effectiveness in lighting street areas.
The five Demonstration Sites will be active through January 2017.
Demonstration Site #1 is in a residential neighborhood between W. Florida Ave. and California Ave.
Demonstration Site #2 is along S. Sanderson Avenue between Domenigoni Pkwy and Wentworth Dr.
Demonstration Sites #3 and #4 are in residential / school neighborhoods between N. Cawston Ave., Eaton Ave., and N. Sanderson Ave near Cawston Elementary School and Rancho Viejo Middle School.
Demonstration Site #5 is along Highway 74 between Myers St. and Lyon Ave.
Written survey forms can be downloaded at www.wrcog.cog.ca.us/streetlights and sent to WRCOG at masters@wrcog.cog.ca.us. Participants can also respond by scanning the QR code displayed on tags on the streetlight poles at the Hemet demonstration sites and providing input via smartphones.
