Moreno Valley’s Simple Message
to Marijuana Dispensaries: Leave Now
In a city widely known for its business friendly environment, operators of illegal marijuana dispensary businesses receive anything but a friendly welcome in Moreno Valley. The City is taking swift, concerted action to close dispensaries through an aggressive program featuring citations, heavy fines and Court Orders to force closure. The City has shuttered four dispensaries over the past 60 days, and is actively pursuing action against dispensary operators at additional locations.
Illegal marijuana dispensaries were recently closed at the following locations:
- Flower Shop on Perris Boulevard
- Kush Kingdom on Alessandro Boulevard
- United Health Cannabis Club on Sunnymead Boulevard
- Medical Supply Store on Sunnymead Boulevard
The City successfully obtained Court Orders requiring that each of these businesses cease operation as dispensaries. Closure actions are in process for several more dispensaries operating unlawfully in Moreno Valley.
Community Development Director Allen Brock attributes the success of these efforts to a collaborative effort by key staff from Code Compliance, Police and the City Attorney’s office to banish illegal marijuana dispensaries from Moreno Valley.
Marijuana dispensaries are prohibited by the Moreno Valley Municipal Code. The California Building Code also requires all businesses to obtain a certificate of occupancy to ensure safety of patrons and employees. Operators of unlawful dispensaries are issued daily Administrative Citations with thousands of dollars in penalties until the operations close.
