Council Member LaDonna Jempson Honored as a Woman of Distinction
Moreno Valley Council Member LaDonna Jempson was honored as a Woman of Distinction on Saturday, March 19th by State Assemblymember Jose Medina at the annual award Distinction luncheon.
Recipients of this award were lauded by Medina for making significant contributions to their respective communities and, specifically, for service as a role model for young women in the 61st Assembly District.
“The recognition was an incredible honor and I was humbled to be in the same room with so many amazing women who offer their time and talents to better their communities. I offer my sincere congratulations to all of the other recipients,” said Council Member Jempson.
Some of Council Member Jempson’s accomplishments were highlighted at the event as well as what she considers her personal mission, which is to serve others. Elected to office in 2014, she proudly serves District 5 and the entire community. She focuses particularly on the successful development of young people and also works to strengthen job opportunities and relationships between the business community and other agencies.
Council Member Jempson serves in the Soroptimist Club of Moreno Valley, the Moreno Valley Historical Society, and the African American Coalition. She has also volunteered her time to support the Moreno Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Moreno Valley Ballet Folklorico Association, the PTA (in Moreno Valley as well as in District 23), the Safe Routes to School program, and Music Changing Lives. Her volunteerism in the community also includes service on the Measure A Citizens Oversight Committee for the Moreno Valley Unified School District.
