Moreno Valley Utility Receives
Recognition for Exceptional System Reliability in 2015

Moreno Valley Utility has received national recognition for achieving exceptional electric reliability in 2015. The recognition comes from the American Public Power Association (APPA)—a trade group in Washington, D.C., that represents more than 2,000 not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities such as Moreno Valley Utility.

Moreno Valley Utility’s customers experienced an average outage of less than 2 minutes in 2015, far shorter than the 53 minute averages posted by the top performing 25% of utilities across the nation.

“This honor recognizes utilities that are thriving when it comes to reliability,” said APPA Senior Vice President, Engineering Services Michael Hyland.

APPA took Moreno Valley Utility’s reliability data compiled through its eReliability Tracker Service and compared it to national reliability data collected by the Energy Information Administration—an independent agency that collects, analyzes and disseminates national energy data.

Projects such as the construction of the Kitching Substation and installation of circuits that tie the electric system together will help to maintain the excellent reliability record of Moreno Valley Utility.
