First ALDI Store to Open in Moreno Valley on March 24

The City of Moreno Valley congratulates ALDI on the opening of its first Moreno Valley store.  The Moreno Valley store located at 12630 Day Street in the TownGate Promenade Shopping Center is also one of ALDI’s flagship grocery stores, and will be among eight stores that will open on Thursday, March 24. The ALDI grand openings mark a significant milestone for the grocery retailer as it prepares to open approximately 45 stores and employ more than 1,100 people in Southern California by the end of 2016.

Residents are invited to attend the three-day grand opening that kicks off on Thursday, March 24 at 8:45 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event will include a golden ticket promotion for the first 100 shoppers and other giveaways and promotions for all shoppers including an ALDI reusable eco-bag and a chance to win Produce for a Year.

“Ever since we announced our plan to bring ALDI to Southern California, the positive response from people across the Southland has been overwhelming, and we’re excited to start opening stores next month and throughout the year,” said Gordon Nesbit, Moreno Valley division vice president for ALDI.

“The City is pleased that ALDI has made such a significant investment in Moreno Valley with the construction of its western regional headquarters and distribution center, and now a retail store,” said Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez. “ALDI’s success in Moreno Valley illustrates the City’s progress in creating jobs and bringing businesses to our community,” he said.

Moreno Valley is home to ALDI’s western regional headquarters and distribution center, a 825,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility and corporate office complex.  This center was completed in 2015 as ALDI joined a list of Fortune 500 and global companies such as Amazon, Procter & Gamble, Skechers USA, Phillips Electronics, Deckers Outdoors, Walgreens, Serta Mattress, Minka Lighting, Harmon Kardon, and Karma Automotive that also call Moreno Valley home.  The City’s reputation for world class industrial development is further enhanced by the recent approval of the 40.6 million square foot World Logistics Center.
