City of Moreno Valley Launches Webpage for El Niño Storm Preparations

The City of Moreno Valley launched a comprehensive webpage to provide beneficial information and prepare community members for predicted El Niño rain events.

While El Niño rain may bring much-needed drought relief to our state, heavy rains may also cause severe flooding and weather related damage to homes, structures and businesses. This webpage aims to provide residents and businesses with valuable information to help prepare for the anticipated El Niño.

Examples of information available at the webpage include:

  • Moreno Valley’s Preparedness Strategy which includes information on flood insurance, inspections, flood protection, and recovery options and resources.
  • Available El Niño assistance, such as locations where residents may obtain sandbags, as well as damage assessment information, emergency responses, and inspections.
  • Alert MoVal is the emergency alert and warning notification system which, after registration of a cell phone and/or landline, will send rapid notifications to residents and/or businesses in the event of an emergency situation.
  • Resources and links to regional agencies that include the weather news service, flood protection tips, public agencies and utility companies.
  • Maps of roadways typically closed during storm events, sandbag distribution locations, private streets, and more.
  • Responses to Frequently Asked Questions.
