Coffee with a Cop
Moreno Valley Police Department Event

Image of Sheriff badgeCoffee with a Cop ImageMoreno Valley Police Department (MVPD) officers are hosting a Coffee with a Cop event on Wednesday, October 28th to provide a unique opportunity for community members to meet with police officers in an informal setting. The October 28th event will begin at 8:00 a.m. at The Cupcake & Espresso Bar, 14475 Moreno Beach Drive.

Coffee with a Cop events are designed to build relationships between officers and citizens to facilitate needed discussions about community issues. The event also provides an opportunity for the community to learn more about what is happening in Moreno Valley's neighborhoods.

About Coffee with a Cop: The majority of contact that law enforcement officers have with the public happens during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community, and some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve. The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.

Coffee with a Cop events are generally set to occur bi-monthly. As dates for 2015 events become available, they will be posted on the MVPD webpage of the City’s website and on the City’s Facebook page.

In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, any person with a disability who requires a modification or accommodation in order to participate in this event should direct such requests to Guy Pegan, ADA Coordinator, at 951.413.3120 at least 72 hours before the event. The 72-hour notification will enable the City to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accessibility and participation in this event.
