City Congratulates Parks & Recreation Commission Chairman for Receipt of Community Champion Award

The City of Moreno Valley congratulates Moreno Valley resident and Parks and Recreation Commission Chairman James C. Baker II on his receipt of the prestigious California Park and Recreation Society (CPRS) Community Champion Award. On April 24, 2015, Commissioner Baker was recognized and presented an award for his exemplary service to the City of Moreno Valley at the CPRS District 11 Annual Awards and Installation. CPRS District 11 encompasses all of Riverside and San Bernardino counties and is one of the largest districts in the state.  

Mr. Baker has served on the Parks & Recreation Commission since 2008 and as the Chairman since July 2013.  In addition to his service on the Parks & Recreation Commission, he was also recognized for his individual service to the community as the leader of the volunteer effort to maintain and light the “M” on Box Springs Mountain. 

Mr. Baker is a strong supporter of parks and recreation, recognizing that excellent recreational facilities and programs enhance the quality of life in the community.  The City is proud that its Chairman of the Parks & Recreation Commission is the first Moreno Valley resident to receive a Community Champion Award from the CRPS District 11.
