Moreno Valley residents are invited to come out and have some fun enjoying an interactive day with leading public safety agencies that provide services in Moreno Valley - all in a festive atmosphere complete with music, food, giveaways and appearances by McGruff the Crime Dog and Sparky the Fire Dog. The free event is Saturday, March 21st, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Moreno Valley Civic Center located at 22850 Calle San Juan De Los Lagos.

In addition to many exciting live demonstrations and exhibits, Moreno Valley residents will have the opportunity to meet and interact with representatives from the Moreno Valley Police Department, Fire Department, Animal Services, and other regional agencies that provide service to Moreno Valley. Public safety equipment and units from March Air Reserve Base will also be exhibited. Displays and exhibits include:

• Tours of the Emergency Operations Center to see and learn more about the Citywide Camera System;
• The 9/11 mobile remembrance exhibit on loan from the Remembrance Rescue Project;
• Live fire suppression and car-cutting demonstrations;
• Several vehicle displays including a fire truck and ladder, multiple police and fire units such as cars, motorcycles, helicopters, boats, CERT Trailer, Emergency Response Force Trailer, and Animal Control units;
• Other live demonstrations including teams and equipment from Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), K-9 units, and Hazardous Device Team (HDT) robotics; and
• Several information booths will be on hand providing information about a wide range of safety related topics.

The Citywide Camera System is a relatively new force multiplying tool in use by Moreno Valley Police Department to provide 275 additional “pairs of eyes” at 80 locations in the City.  The cameras are producing significantly positive results as they have assisted in more than 800 wide-ranging investigations. The public will have this exclusive opportunity to see the cameras in action and learn more about the system.

The Remembrance Rescue Project is an educational, not-for-profit effort to provide a hands-on mobile memorial to educate post 9/11 generations about the events of that tragic day in our nation’s history. The memorial is a NYFD fire rescue vehicle, Rescue 5, which was in service on September 11, 2001.

The event will take place on Calle San Juan de los Lagos between Frederick Street and Veterans Way and in the Public Safety Building parking lot.  Public parking is available at City Hall and at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center located at 14177 Frederick Street and 14075 Frederick Street, respectively.
