Moreno Valley Invites Participation on Boards and Commissions
Because public participation is essential to guide the City’s progress, the Moreno Valley City Council invites residents to apply to fill vacancies on key advisory panels. Residents and business owners are encouraged to apply for openings on the following boards and commissions by January 30, 2015 by 4:30 p.m.:
- Arts Commission
- Emerging Leaders Council
- July 4th Advisory Board
- Library Commission
- Parks and Recreation Commission
- Planning Commission
- Recreational Trails Board
- Senior Citizens’ Board
About Moreno Valley’s Boards and Commissions
All Advisory Boards and Commissions are established by the Moreno Valley City Council.
- The Accessibility Appeals Board conducts public hearing on written appeals regarding Title 24 accessibility issues.
- The Arts Commission considers matters pertaining to planning and promotion of activities related to the arts, as well as arts focused education in the City.
- Emerging Leaders Council (ELC) makes recommendations to the City Council regarding youth-related programs and encourages youth participation in community service programs and projects. ELC members shall be college students aged 18-25 who reside in Moreno Valley.
- The Environmental and Historical Preservation Board considers matters pertaining to the preservation of the City's heritage and cultures.
- The July 4th Advisory Board considers matters pertaining to planning, promotion, and fundraising for the City’s July 4th events.
- The Library Commission considers matters pertaining to the administration, operation, development, improvement and maintenance of library services.
- The Parks and Recreation Commission considers matters pertaining to the administration, operation, development, improvement and maintenance of parks, recreation facilities, and parks and recreation programs.
- The Planning Commission considers matters pertaining to development and zoning within the City.
- The Recreational Trails Board considers matters pertaining to single-use and multi-use recreational trails, including bicycle, jogging and equestrian trails.
- The Senior Citizens’ Board considers matters pertaining to senior citizens, senior citizens’ programs, as well as policies for the Moreno Valley Senior Community Center.
- The Traffic Safety Commission considers matters pertaining to traffic safety within the City.
- The Utilities Commission considers all matters pertaining to Moreno Valley Utility, and to other utility services such as water, sewer, gas, and the investor-owned electric utility.
