City Launches MoVal Neighbors

Neighbors

The City of Moreno Valley is launching its MoVal Neighbors program, the private on-line social network for neighborhoods.

Using technology developed by Nextdoor.com and based on established elementary school attendance boundaries, the City created 27 MoVal Neighbors websites.  MoVal Neighbors websites enable neighbor-to-neighbor communications and build stronger, safer communities.  MoVal Neighbors can communicate on these private neighborhood websites to:

  • Find trustworthy local resources, such as babysitters, plumbers, and dentists.
  • Report suspicious activity and local crime.
  • Share information about local events and school activities.
  • Organize and promote garage sales and neighborhood block parties.
  • Get help finding lost pets and missing packages.
  • Sell or give away items, like an old kitchen table or a bike.

MoVal Neighbors also hear about current community news.  The City and schools will be able to post information such as important programs, public events, and emergency notifications to MoVal Neighbors.

MoVal Neighbors is free for residents and for the City.  It is secure.  Each MoVal Neighbors website is password protected and available only to residents who verify that they live in the neighborhood.  Neighborhoods self-manage their own Nextdoor.com websites and information shared on MoVal Neighbors cannot be accessed by those outside the neighborhood or found on search engines.

To join your Neighborhood website and get to know your neighbors better, go to the MoVal Neighbors page on the City’s website or to www.nextdoor.com.

If you have any questions, contact Community Now, the MoVal Neighbors’ program manager, at MoValNeighbors@outlook.com or by phone at 951.333.9965, or contact City Hall at MoValNeighbors@moval.org.
