Mayor Kicks Off Library Reading Program
The Moreno Valley Library announces great new evening programs for Moreno Valley residents:
Teen Night will be hosted every Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. in the Storyroom. Programs will include book discussions, manga, poetry readings, and teen advisory board meetings.
Family Night will be held every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the Storyroom. Family Night provides children and parents with the opportunity to learn six early literacy skills: letter knowledge, narrative skills, phonological awareness, print awareness, print motivation, and vocabulary skills. Families can anticipate craft projects, music, and storytelling.
The Moreno Valley City Council supports early literacy and is demonstrating their commitment to education by reading stories and participating in other activities with the kids who attend Family Nights. Mayor Tom Owings will launch the new Family Nights program this Thursday, March 13, at 6:00 p.m. at the Library. Mayor Owings will read during Family Nights in March and then the remaining Council members will share Thursday night reading opportunities going forward, beginning in April.
