City of Moreno Valley Thanks Volunteers for
“M” Landmark Improvement Project!
The City of Moreno Valley’s landmark “M” will receive a much-needed repainting next Saturday, November 2. The City would like to express our appreciation to the volunteers and donors who are making this privately-organized and funded project possible!
A symbol of the community since the 1960’s, Moreno Valley’s “M” was last painted in 2009, during the City’s 25th anniversary celebration year. After years of harsh weather conditions, the sign is ready for a makeover. City Parks & Recreation Commissioner James Baker is leading a community project to upgrade the condition of the famous landmark with the generous assistance of Lowe’s Home Improvement and Visterra Credit Union.
At approximately 150 feet long and set at a 45-degree angle on the side of Box Springs Mountain, repainting the “M” will be challenging! Moreno Valley’s volunteers are planning to show their community pride and meet the project challenges with equipment and labor donated by Moreno Valley residents and businesses.
Citizens who wish to participate should contact Visterra Credit Union at 951.656.4411 for more information (students will receive Community Service credits). Visterra Credit Union continues to accept needed donations at their branch at 23540 Cactus Ave in Moreno Valley.
