City Helps Food Drive for “Give Love Tour"

Next week, over Veterans Day Weekend, the Marcus Heart Foundation will present the “Give Love Tour” 2013, a weekend effort to restore and revitalize the purpose of Veterans Day through a celebration of the courageous men and women who sacrifice their lives for our country.

The focus of this weekend-long event is to give genuine appreciation for active and non-active veterans who have served our country. The event will be offering a free dinner to veterans and their families. Non-perishable food will be collected next week for displaced veterans and their families. The Tour includes a festival, R&B concert, motorcycle ride, along with a non-perishable food drive and is packed with tons of fun for the family.

Residents are invited to join the weekend-long event and enjoy musical performances from various artists. As a family-friendly event, there will be face painting, a wide-ranging of vendors, musical performances, and zip lining. The festival will be open to the community with free admission. Buy a ticket, support a vet! Each ticket purchase funds a free dinner for Veteran and their families. Veterans will get free admission to enjoy all of the festivities at the “Give Love Tour.”

The City of Moreno Valley is assisting the “Give Love Tour” effort to collect food for homeless veterans.  Two donation locations have been established to receive non-perishable food items next week.  As the leading event sponsor, AutoZone will provide trucks to pick up the collection boxes on Thursday, November 7.

Our Veterans sacrifice their lives to keep American soil safe. “America has become comfortable with their freedoms; it’s because of their service that allows us to live our lives,” remarked Bruce Atlas, CEO of the Marcus Heart Foundation.  Army PFC Marcus A. Tynes was a Valley View High School graduate with dreams of becoming a police officer. PFC Tynes gave his life in service to his country during Operation Enduring Freedom in the Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.
