Moreno Valley City Council Member Marcelo Co Resigns
Moreno Valley City Council Member Marcelo Co today notified the City Clerk that he has resigned from office effective today.
Co has represented the Moreno Valley’s 4th District since his election in November 2010. District 4 comprises the City’s southern end.
“The Council respects Mr. Co’s decision, and we will work collectively to assist residents and businesses in that area of the City during this interim period,” said Mayor Tom Owings.
A copy of Mr. Co’s letter of resignation is provided with this news release.
The City Council will hold a public discussion regarding options to fill a brief vacancy in the 4th District seat at an upcoming meeting. Per Government Code Section 36512, the Council has up to 60 days to make an interim appointment or call a special election that would occur in 2014 (no earlier than 114 days after being called).
