“A Tribute to Stars and Stripes” Moreno Valley Celebrates July 4th

The City of Moreno Valley is excited about the 2013 July 4th celebration. The Independence Day celebration will kick off with a parade from 9:30 a.m. to noon, then launches into full celebration mode as the gates for the Family FunFest open at 1:00 p.m.

The parade route will begin at Alessandro Boulevard, head north on Frederick Street, go west on TownGate Boulevard and end at the TownGate Plaza at approximately 12:00 noon. The parade theme this year is "A Tribute to Stars & Stripes.” 
The festivities will continue at Morrison Park and Mountain View Middle School located at the northeast corner of Dracaea Avenue and Morrison Street. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. with the festival beginning at 2:00 p.m.  Highlights of the evening include a main stage and a community stage which will guarantee enjoyment for the entire family. Several entertainers will perform on the main stage this year.   At 3:00 p.m., the excitement will begin with performances from Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps and Yamato Youth Band. At 4:00 p.m. a performance by “Mrs. Jones Revenge - A Tribute to Classic Rock,” followed by “Ghost in the Machine - A Tribute to The Police and Sting,” and then “Hollywood Stones – A Tribute to the Rolling Stones.”  The event grand finale is a long-time favorite in Moreno Valley with the fireworks extravaganza beginning at 9:00 p.m. The fireworks show will be simulcast with patriotic music by KOLA 99.9 FM. This promises to be the best July 4th show ever! 

Presale tickets for the event are available at the Moreno Valley Conference and Recreation Center through July 3.  Cost is $2 per person, or $10 for a family up to 6 people. On July 4, entry is free between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 pm. After 4:00 p.m., entry fee is $3 per person.  Military service members with valid identification and children under 5 are free.
