2013 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge
Kick-Off Pet Adoption Event at
the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter
Special Adoption Rate Discounts will apply!

On Saturday, June 1, 2013, the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter will be kicking off the 2013 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge with a special pet promotion that will run all day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter.  The purpose of this shelter pet promotion event is to help homeless companion animals find life-long loving homes.

There are also fun surprises planned for adopting families. Everyone that adopts a pet receives a free “pet adoption packet” to include information about their new pet and services received. Adoption packets will be distributed randomly at the June 1st ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge Kick-Off Pet Adoption event.  Three of the packets distributed will include a gift card to one of the following restaurants: Olive Garden, Zapata’s and Steer’n Stein. One packet will include a game chair donated by Estate Furniture and twenty packets will include promotional offers from Bud’s Moreno Valley Tire Pro’s and Yogurtland.  Moreno Valley Costco and the Animal Health Team from Merck – HomeAgain Microchips will be on hand during the event. Family Music Room’s monetary donation was used to alter one of the adoptable pets.  The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter is grateful for the generous support by all these local businesses.

Special discounted adoption rates apply during this daylong event. Dogs and puppies will be available for $50, while cats and kittens will be available for $25. These adoption prices include spay or neuter surgery, 5-in-1, bordetella and rabies vaccinations, along with a HomeAgain microchip. In addition, all dogs and cats adopted will receive a new collar and ID tag made available by a grant from the ASPCA.

The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter was selected to join 49 other Animal Shelters nationwide to participate in the 2013 ASPCA Rachael Ray $100K Challenge competing to save more lives from June 1st through August 31st. The $100K Challenge is a contest in which 50 shelters across the country will compete to break their own records at saving animals' lives. Throughout the months of June, July and August 2013, each competing shelter must save more dogs, cats, puppies and kittens than they did during the same three months in 2012.

In 2013, 50 shelters will save even more lives, with winners earning $600,000 in prize grants, including a $100,000 grand prize for the shelter that increases lives saved the most. Grant funds awarded to the Moreno Valley Animal Shelter will be used to further promote pet adoptions and provide additional Spay and Neuter services in the community.

The ASPCA wants Animal Shelters across the country to save more lives! An estimated 3 to 4 million animals die in shelters every year. The ASPCA is tapping the shoulders of Animal Shelter professionals across the country to challenge them to become more innovative in saving more lives.

Pets adopted on Saturday, June 1st that have not already been altered will be available to go home the following Monday afternoon after being spayed or neutered.
