City to Remember Fallen Soldiers with Memorial Day Events
Moreno Valley patriots are invited to honor Memorial Day with two events this year:
West Coast Thunder Motorcycle Parade:
The Color Guard and parade departs the Skip Fordyce dealership at precisely 9:11 a.m. in remembrance of the tragedies of 2001 then proceeds past the Riverside National Cemetery to Moreno Valley’s Sunnymead Blvd. Please join us to become part of this new tradition and enjoy the morning West Coast Thunder Motorcycle Parade!
DATE: Monday, May 27, 2013
TIME: approximately 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
LOCATION: Line up on the south side of Sunnymead Blvd. between Frederick St. and Heacock St.
Sunset Memorial Day Ceremony:
Please join us at sunset to remember the fallen and hear words of thanks and remembrance from Riverside County Sheriff Stan Sniff. Additional special guests include members of the City Council, the nationally recognized CDF Fire Fighters Honor Guard, the Moreno Valley Master Chorale, the Valley View High School Crimson Regiment Marching Band, and the Knights of Columbus A. F. Chelbana Assembly.
DATE: Monday, May 27, 2013
TIME: 7:30 p.m.
LOCATION: Veteran’s Memorial, 14177 Frederick St.
Attendees are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue in the tradition established by Moreno Valley’s Laura Froehlich, a.k.a. “Flagmama.” In addition, the City of Moreno Valley will be accepting contributions of peanut butter (creamy or chunky) and jelly (strawberry or grape) in support of March Air Reserve Base’s Hangar 385 hospitality service for departing and returning war zone soldiers.
A time of visiting will follow the ceremony. Light refreshments will be served. For more information about the 2013 Memorial Day ceremony, call 951.413.3030.
