Notice of Public Availability Final Energy Efficiency and Climate Action Strategy
for the City of Moreno Valley
On October 9, 2012, the Moreno Valley City Council approved the Energy Efficiency and Climate Action Strategy and the related Greenhouse Gas Analysis. The Strategy and Analysis documents identify potential programs and policies to reduce overall City energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy. The Strategy also prioritizes implementation of programs, policies, and projects based upon energy efficiency, cost efficiency and potential resources.
The Greenhouse Gas Analysis provides a more scientific approach and recommends a target to reducing community-wide GHG emissions consistent with the State reduction goals in Assembly Bill (AB) 32, the legislation that provides the basis of the State’s climate action initiatives.
The City Council direction with the Strategy is to lead by example in the implementation of best practices for energy efficiency. The Energy Efficiency and Climate Action Strategy and the related Greenhouse Gas Analysis provide information for the general public and the City as an organization to become more energy efficient.
Development of the Strategy was funded by a Federal Stimulus Package Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant to undertake several projects to reduce the City’s energy use and consequently its greenhouse gas emissions.
