Moreno Valley Police Department Enforces Day Time Curfew/Trespassing

On May 9 and 10, 2012, officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department's School Resource Unit and Problem Oriented Police Team conducted Day Time Curfew Enforcement near Canyon Springs High School. In addition, at the request of the city of Moreno Valley, trespassing enforcement was conducted in the area known as Poorman's Reservoir. Poorman's Reservoir is located in the area encompassed by Pigeon Pass Road, Sunnymead Ranch Parkway, Heacock Street and Ironwood Avenue.

  • 37 citations were issued for Day Time Curfew violations
  • 24 citations for Trespassing within the fenced and posted "No Trespassing" area of Poorman's Reservoir
  • 2 citations for possession of drug paraphernalia
  • 4 citations for possession of a lighter by a minor.

The Moreno Valley Police Department's School Resource Unit would like to remind Moreno Valley's youth that school attendance is an important part of their education. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind all the citizens of Moreno Valley that entering Poorman's Reservoir is a violation of Moreno Valley Municipal Code section 11.04.090. Poorman's Reservoir is considered dangerous due to the unstable ground, overgrown vegetation and many different types of wildlife living within the reservoir.
