Workshop / Notice of Public Availability Energy Efficiency and Climate Action Strategy Draft Document for the City of Moreno Valley

The City of Moreno Valley received Federal Stimulus Package Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funding to undertake several projects that reduce the City's energy use and consequently its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. One of these projects is the Energy Efficiency and Climate Action Strategy and a related Greenhouse Gas Analysis for the City as an organization and for the City as a community.

The Strategy and Analysis documents identify potential programs and policies to reduce overall City energy consumption and increase the use of renewable energy. The Strategy also prioritizes implementation of programs, policies, and projects based upon energy efficiency, cost efficiency and potential resources. The Greenhouse Gas Analysis provides a more scientific approach and recommends a target to reducing community-wide GHG emissions consistent with the State reduction goals in Assembly Bill (AB) 32, the legislation that provides the basis of the State's climate action initiatives. The City Council direction with the Strategy is to lead by example in the implementation of best practices for energy efficiency. The Energy Efficiency and Climate Action Strategy and the related Greenhouse Gas Analysis provide information for the general public and the City as an organization to become more energy efficient.

The public is invited to attend a Public Workshop / Open House on the Draft Energy Efficiency and Climate Action Strategy, and the related Greenhouse Gas Analysis. A short PowerPoint presentation will give an overview of the document. Public input on the document is welcomed and encouraged. During the workshop, the public will be able to ask questions and speak with City staff in regards to the document. Refreshments will be served.
