Moreno Valley Police Department Presents DUI Awareness Information to Moreno Valley High School SeniorsYesterday, the Moreno Valley Police Department's Traffic Unit conducted a D.U.I. Awareness Presentation for all of the seniors at Moreno Valley High School. Organized by members of the Moreno Valley Traffic Unit in cooperation with members from Riverside County's "Mothers Against Drunk Driving" (MADD), the event captured the attention of approximately 400 - 500 students who attended along with approximately 20 faculty members. Some of the event components included the display of the MADD trailer in the quad area for the students to view, plus speakers from the MADD Victim Impact Panel described their own tragic experiences with D.U.I. drivers. Members from the Moreno Valley Traffic Unit spoke to the students about the dangers and consequences of underage drinking and impaired driving. Students then tried on D.U.I. goggles, which demonstrate the effects of alcohol on vision and coordination, and examined the P.E.B.T. device used by officers in the field to determine the blood alcohol content of a person suspected of impaired driving. This DUI Presentation was provided as an effort to increase awareness of the dangers of impaired driving and underage drinking, and to encourage the use of sober designated drivers, with the ultimate goal of reducing the tragic deaths and catastrophic injuries associated with impaired driving. For more information regarding this event, contact the Moreno Valley Police Department's Traffic Unit at (951) 486-6900 or visit MADD's website at http://www.madd.org/. After hours and on weekends, the Police Department may be reached at (951) 776-1099. Report Drunk Drivers. Call 911! # # # |
