"Arts Commission Plans Arts Forum"

The Moreno Valley Arts Commission is sponsoring a Community Arts Forum from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 21, 2012. This event is free to the public and will be held at the Moreno Valley Senior Citizens' Center located at 25075 Fir Avenue.

This Forum is open to anyone who has an interest in developing a vibrant arts community in Moreno Valley. "We are especially trying to reach out to artists, writers, dancers, singers, musicians, as well as any performing groups currently active in the city," noted Commissioner Van Hala. "We are hoping to form a working liaison with as many arts groups as possible, in order to promote and support their activities. One of our goals is to have all arts events listed on a community calendar that would be easily accessible on the city website."

Another topic on the agenda will be the formation of an arts-oriented 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that will support community art projects, such as the opening of an Arts Gallery in the Mall, and eventually help raise funds for a much-needed performing arts center in the city. Along with these activities, the Arts Commission hopes to establish an arts guild of volunteers who are willing to donate their time and talents to help revitalize the arts in Moreno Valley.

Upcoming Events
In addition to the Arts Forum on April 21st, the Arts Commission is planning to hold a juried art show with a wine and cheese tasting on the evening of Friday, May 11th, at the TownGate Community Center. Finally, the 5th annual Artober Fest is scheduled for October 13th, 2012 at the Conference & Recreation Center.

The Arts Commission meets the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. at the Conference & Recreation Center at 14075 Frederick Street in Moreno Valley. The commissioners welcome the public to attend.
