Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Recognizes Moreno Valley Police Officers
for DUI Arrests

On February 22, 2012, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) honored members of the Moreno Valley Traffic Team at their annual "Avoid the 30" award ceremony. This event is endorsed by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS). More than 300 people from several law enforcement agencies in Riverside County attended this prestigious event.

Several members of the Moreno Valley Traffic Team were individually recognized during this event. MVPD Motor Officer Eric Robinson was the top DUI arresting officer for all agencies in 2011 and received the Triple Century Award for arresting 314 motorists for impaired driving. MVPD Motor Officer Dennis Pleta was the second highest DUI arresting officer in 2011 for all agencies and received the Double Century Award for arresting 203 motorists for impaired driving.

Other MVPD Officers recognized for DUI arrests in 2011 were as follows:

Officer Rebecca Torres - 26 arrests Officer Ralph Lopez - 33 arrests
Motor Officer Jason Edmondson - 36 arrests Officer Myling Bordeau - 38 arrests
Officer Chris Bayani - 47 arrests Motor Officer Chris Loucks - 53 arrests
Officer Jason Slover - 62 arrests  

 

Management Analyst Launa Jimenez received special recognition from the Riverside County "AVOID the 30" Campaign for her continued dedication to traffic safety. For the past six years, Launa has worked closely with the Office of Traffic Safety and our AVOID partners, coordinating and administering our traffic safety grants. Her hard work and organizational skills allow officers to maximize their enforcement efforts.

Not only is the Moreno Valley Traffic Team highly recognized for enforcing impaired driving laws, the team was also recognized by the California Office of Traffic Safety by winning first place in the very competitive California Law Enforcement Challenge. The Moreno Valley Traffic Team was recognized at the national level by the International Chiefs of Police, taking 1st place in Traffic Safety.

The Moreno Valley Traffic team takes traffic safety very seriously and was also recognized by CNBC.com as the 3rd safest city in the nation for its size in 2011.
